سبايرو التنين تدور أحداثه في عالم شاسع تهيمن عليه التنانين وكياناتها القوية الخمسة المعروفة باسم "الوطن"، التي تحافظ على السلام بين الممالك. يسعى الشرير غناستي غنورك، الذي نفيه التنانين الحرفية، للانتقام عبر حبس التنانين في بلورات وسرقة الكنوز. ومع ذلك، يبقى التنين الشجاع سبايرو غير متأثر بسحر غناستي. يقود اللاعبون سبايرو في مهمة لإنقاذ التنانين المحتجزة، وجمع بيض التنانين والكنوز، وبناء جيش لمواجهة غناستي. الهدف النهائي هو هزيمة غناستي، واستعادة السلام، وتحرير التنانين المحتجزة عبر أراضٍ متنوعة.
