Global Defence Force, also known as Earth Defense Force 2, is a third-person shooter developed by Sandlot for PlayStation 2. Originally released in Japan as Chikyū Bōeigun 2 by D3 Publisher, it is part of the Simple 2000 budget game series. The game features players taking on the role of a soldier battling B movie-inspired giant ants and robots reminiscent of War of the Worlds. It was later published in Europe by Essential Games, a brand established by D3 Publisher for distributing Simple 2000 titles in the region.
